DV Group traces its humble beginning to a small general store and oil dealership started by Mr. Ram Ratan Shah (Chairman’s father) at Janakpur, Nepal in the late 1970s. The shop was eventually handed to Mr. Vishwanath’s leadership and he parallelly established Shah Enterprises in 1982. The enterprise engaged in trading activities for textile threads and other consumer items.

In the early 1990s, Mr. Vishwanath established a Hair Oil Plant under the brand ‘Pooja Hair Oil’ for the regional markets. That same decade witnessed ‘Shah Enterprises’ change to Vishwanath & Sons. Upon securing its first exclusive distributorship for chewing tobacco (Nepal’s first), the company thereupon, was able to vastly expand its distribution network and gradually secure exclusive Nepal Distributorship for various brands ranging from Ayur Herbals, DS Group (Rajnigandha), Nippo Batteries, Pepsico, Haldiram’s Snacks, Hindustan Pencils, among others.

The year 1997 saw the leadership’s first diversification from its main line of Trading business to Laundry Detergent Manufacturing.

In line with our Group Vision, today, DV Group has expanded its business presence from FMCG Trading to Manufacturing, Supermarkets/Retail, Education, Hospitality, F&B, Media and Agriculture. We now have a full-fledged core team for all our respective verticals. In this rapidly changing and high growth Nepal business environment, we have been keeping up with the pace and at times setting the pace for an inclusive development and growth of all our stakeholders across all sectors.
